So does that make it okay for MEGamers to give another mundane shooter that has done nothing to renew the genre an almost perfect score? No it doesn't my friend.

I've read a lot of reviews here, none of them seem to be of interest to the individuals reading it, i.e. the consumer. Reviews are supposed to be thoughtful, provide personal input as well as provide information to those interested in the game that could possibly detract from the experience they have envisioned because of all the hype. Once again Infinity Ward have proven that you don't need to renew anything in the genre in order to make money, just give it a new name and create a lot of hype in the public.

Honestly guys you really need to think about the way you review games, I have had this site bookmarked for a long time and I rarely visit it, but when I do it's really such a shame to see reviews like this when you can obviously do so much better.

Great review
the game is really good and the graphics are awesome and am gonna buy it for sure
PS3 fanboys just can't stop talking about Uncharted 2 and killzone 2 those are the only games they have)
by the way all the sites give it 90 at least in rating so stop talking about the rating

I've played this game for a while now, it's a good game (very similar to the first modern warfare), but graphically it looks like something that should be on ps2 or the original xbox (especially when compared to games like killzone 2 or uncharted 2). For xbox 360 users this game may look good, but for me after just playing through uncharted 2 this is like a step backwards (By the way i'm not ripping on xbox it's just you guys don't have any graphically impressive shooters like the ps3 does yet, but u will when crysis 2 comes out and u'll know what I mean)

This is a very bad review!!!!!!!
I recently started to check this website trying to give a chance to a ME website .... but not anymore!
Reviews are articles that gives to us the technical aspect of the game and a really detailed one, like the actual feel aiming the bad things the good things .....what was improved... bugs... and maybe compare it to other games like mw1 or awf and its better be written by a very experienced gamer...oh and please next time spare us the obama thingyyyy....it was a waste of time...
meanwhile please visit www.---.com ....and i hope you will find good reviews and start improving yours... Sorry if this was a bit harsh .... but it's just not right!!!

It's really ridiculous how biased these reviews are. I've read so many reviews for over-hyped games like this one on MEGamers and to be honest they've almost all read the perfect 9 - 9.9 scores. This game has many faults, specifically the PC version which Infinity Ward decided to screw up in order to introduce a new match finding system. This game can also be incredibly intimidating to newcomers because it expects the player to have already played the single player campaign. I honestly think you guys have to step it up if you want to compete with the vast amount of game review sites and stop throwing around 9/10's here and there.

this is actually a very poor review.

"While special ops are fun and challenging, it’s the Single Player mission that’s the heart of this game. A good video game is often like a good movie – the secret to winning over your audience lays purely in your ability to provide a captivating experience. Modern Warfare 2 does this so very well. Each level in the game pans out like an episode of 24. It’s intense, dramatic and will keep you on the edge of your seat."

How about some examples. What techniques are used to simulate the feeling of drama?

"The graphics in the game are simply gorgeous. Infinity Ward’s genius clearly lies in its level designs and attention to detail. The game is by all means an aural and visual treat. There’s enough eye candy in the game to keep you excited and onlookers jealous."

again, how about some examples. how do the graphics compare to other releases? you said they were better than MW1's graphics, but how do they compare to games that are highly praised for their visuals. More importantly, how are the graphical effects used to develop atmosphere or to draw players into the game.

words like gorgeous and perfect don't belong in reviews. what may look pretty or seem perfect to the reviewer may seem ugly and flawed to the reader. a good review should offer enough details for the readers to form their own informed opinions.

Not to mention that the way you develop your final rating of the game is flawed for the same reasons. Fun Factor! has it ever crossed your mind that fun, just like opinions of beauty, are different for everyone.

Your thesis for this piece is that MW2 deserves to be game of the year, but offers nothing concrete or remotely explaining why. While I will not comment on whether or not MW2 is or is not game of the year quality, the descriptions from your review certainly do not help it's case.

Why metacritic found this site worthy of including in their list of trusted reviewers is beyond me. It's reviews like this that make me ashamed to be in the business and one of the reasons our medium isn't taken seriously.
